Club Committees

Below are a list of the current committees members can take part in.

The committees are broken into two types - internally and externally facing. Our internal committees help support and maintain our organization, while the externally facing committees contribute to the betterment of our community.

If you would like to join a committee or have ideas for new committees, please attend the next meeting and share your interest with the board.


SERVICE COMMITTEE

  • Make a positive difference in our local community

  • Engage members and help provide a variety of volunteer opportunities suitable for our diverse membership

  • Help attract new members that are onlooking for service opportunities

  • Represent the Lions Club in the community in a positive way

  • Allow members to promote service opportunities that they are most passionate about


GIVING COMMITTEE

  • This committee works with the Treasurer to be sure our annual donations are paid to the following organizations:

    • Advokids

    • Big Brothers/Big Sisters

    • Canal Alliance for turkeys in November

    • Summer Concerts

    • Canine Companions for Independent Living

    • Summer Camp Scholarships

    • Lions Eye Foundation; Lions In Sight

    • Redwood Graduation Night

    • Toys For Tots

    • Twin City Little League

    • Whistlestop

  • Meets at 6:00 PM on the fourth Thursday of the month to consider requests for donations

SUNSHINE COMMITTEE

  • This is usually one member who stays aware of Club members who have situations in which support might be needed. This may be an operation; a death in the family; a time of need.

  • The Sunshine member sends cards or organizes support as needed


Program Committee

  • Works with the Board to organize Social functions for the second Thursday meeting

  • Meets regularly to organize these programs, especially for the second Thursday of each month.

  • Contacts, orchestrates and introduces the program and speaker.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

  • Works to encourage current members to recruit new members

  • Works to ensure that sponsors accompany new members, introduce them to Club members and support them in their first year.

  • Gives this handbook to new members and encourages them to participate

  • Works with the President on Initiation Night for New Members



KITCHEN COMMITTEE

  • Two - three members oversee the Kitchen Committee, the Table Set Up Team, the KP Team

  • They create the work schedule for the calendar year (September through June)

  • They remind members of their assigned meeting at which they will set up tables and chairs; set up the room for the meal; do KP

  • An Overseer will be present from the set up through the KP for a meeting.
